Compliance Manager
Build a clear, reliable compliance structure by supporting governance, improving processes and creating guidance for international trade, export control, sanctions and dual-use technology requirements
1. Overview
Build the compliance structure behind international defence technology
You bring structure where others are still finding direction.
We operate in one of the most highly regulated segments of the international export market, covering strategic goods, dual-use technology, sanctions, and international trade compliance.
We are looking for someone who can help build and mature our compliance structure: someone who can design processes, translate complex regulations into practical business operations, and help shape a strong compliance culture across the organisation.
2. Your role
This role combines strategic ownership with operational execution. Your primary focus will be on policy, governance, advisory, training, and process design. Operational activities such as permit applications, screenings, and classifications are part of the role but account for approximately 25% of the workload.
As DeltaQuad continues to scale, there will also be opportunities to contribute to broader compliance domains over time.
3. What you’ll do
Design, implement, and improve export control and compliance processes, policies, and internal governance structures.
Advise management and leadership on regulatory risks, export opportunities, and compliance-related business decisions.
Manage and support export license applications with the CDIU for Dutch and EU strategic goods regulations.
Support and coordinate EAR/BIS-related licensing processes and assess potential ITAR implications.
Conduct customer, partner, and end-user due diligence and screening activities.
Support product classifications (ECCN, Military List classifications) in collaboration with engineering teams.
Develop and deliver internal compliance trainings for teams including sales, engineering, and procurement.
Monitor developments in EU dual-use legislation, military goods regulations, sanctions frameworks, and US export regulations.
Contribute to the long-term development of a broader compliance function within DeltaQuad.
4. What you bring
7 years of experience within compliance, export controls, strategic goods, regulatory affairs, international trade, policy, or a related governmental or industrial environment.
Experience interpreting and applying complex regulatory frameworks and translating them into practical business processes.
Affinity with or experience in export controls, dual-use regulations, sanctions, or strategic goods compliance.
Familiarity with EU dual-use regulations (EU 2021/821), CDIU licensing procedures, and preferably EAR/BIS regulations. Knowledge of ITAR implications is considered a strong plus.
A legal, policy, political science, compliance, or related academic background (HBO/WO level).
Strong process-oriented mindset with the ability to build structure in a fast-scaling environment.
Assertive stakeholder management skills and the ability to create buy-in for compliance across all levels of the organisation.
Fluency in Dutch, both written and spoken, is essential due to Dutch-language permit procedures, regulatory communication and internal documentation.
5. What we offer
Ownership of the compliance function within a rapidly growing defence technology company.
Competitive salary and benefits based on experience and background.
Excellent pension scheme through the PME pension fund.
Work in an innovative, high-tech environment with real-world impact.
A highly visible role with direct exposure to leadership and strategic decision-making.
The opportunity to shape and professionalise compliance in an international and highly regulated environment.
Long-term growth opportunities as the compliance function expands into additional domains.
Open, informal company culture where your ideas are valued.
Lunch provided by DeltaQuad, monthly team drinks and regular team activities.
